Freddy Krueger Stands Firm To Win Jump Title At Putrajaya World Cup

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 9 (Bernama) -- Frederick August Krueger, 33, or "Freddy Krueger" won the Men's Jump Category at the 2008 Putrajaya Wakeboard and Water Ski World Cup here Sunday.

With a 60.8 metre jump, the American managed to overcome the challenge from Canadian Ryan Dodd who recorded a 60.9 metre jump during the qualifying round but failed to beat Krueger when he only managed a 60 metre jump in the final round.

"When you come to a venue like this, it is absolutely mind blowing and you want to do more," Krueger told reporters after being confirmed as the winner of the title.

"I hope it was not a nightmare on Dodd, but I feel Im lucky to win," he said.

In the Women's Jump Category, Angeliki Andriopolou beat the odds when she injured herself during qualifying round lift the title.

"It was very tough, but I think it was also tough on everyone else. So I just ignored the pain and did my best," she said.
